Curatorial statement
Lead Curator: Szabolcs Musca, PhD
I am a curator working across contemporary theatre and multi-arts, specialising in cross-cultural performance, socially engaged practice, and international collaboration. My work centres migrant and diasporic artists, creating platforms where diverse voices can challenge dominant narratives and reshape how we understand identity, belonging, and cultural exchange.
I develop research-led projects that connect local contexts with global perspectives — from residencies and commissions to public programmes and collaborative laboratories. I am particularly interested in performance as a space of encounter: where artistic practice meets lived experience, and where audiences engage critically with urgent social questions.
My approach is relational and process-driven, grounded in long-term partnerships with artists, communities, and institutions. I work across sectors to build sustainable, ethical frameworks for collaboration, supporting work that is both artistically rigorous and socially impactful.
For me, curation is not just about programming — it is about creating the conditions for dialogue, experimentation, and transformation across borders.
