Refugee Genres roundtable (Stockholm, December 2022)


Organized by Södertörn University in connection with the publication of the anthology Refugee Genres: Essays on the Culture of Flight and Refuge (Palgrave Macmillan, 2022).


Distinguished participants from different disciplines provided perspectives to the

central focus of the anthology: bringing arts and humanities approaches to migration

studies. The roundtable participants contributed to the interdisciplinary conversations

on writing and media by and for refugees that has burgeoned in recent years. The book

contributors also touched on different media, histories of refugee migration, genres, and

forms, including life-writing and memoir, the graphic novel, film, and the literary novel.

The event was organised by the co-editors of the anthology: Mike Classon Frangos (English department, Linnaeus University) and Sheila Ghose (English subject, Södertörn University)
